Located in the heart of Huron County, Howes Lawn & Landscape Inc. has grown from humble
beginnings into a cornerstone of quality landscaping service. In June, Howes Lawn & Landscape
Inc. celebrated 30 years in business. At the helm is Joel Howes, a passionate, hardworking
entrepreneur.
The company was officially founded in 1995, but at 12 years old, he was already pushing a
mower through neighbourhood lawns, earning trust and gaining experience. After high school,
with encouragement from his father, he purchased his first riding mower and officially started his
business. Clients began asking for garden maintenance and shrub trimming, so Joel expanded his
services. In 2008, he hired his first employee. By 2011, the company had grown into a full-
service landscaping provider, offering design and build projects, seasonal maintenance, and
more.
In 2021, he reached out to a peer and learned about concrete flatwork—a natural complement to
landscaping. This added new dimensions to the company’s capabilities, including driveways,
walkways, patios, and decorative stamped concrete finishes. In November 2024, he added a
triaxle dump truck, enabling more efficient delivery and material transport for large-scale
projects. Howes Lawn & Landscape Inc. offers:

● Custom outdoor spaces, softscapes, hardscapes, and garden bed designs
● Concrete Preparation, pouring, and finishing—including coloured, stamped, and broom
finishes
● Mulch, topsoil, gravel, and stone for pickup or delivery
● Snow removal for residential and commercial clients

With the retirement of Rick and Joanne Turner from Art’s Landscaping, Howes Lawn & Landscape Inc. is proud to carry the torch. Several former team members from Art’s
Landscaping have joined the Howes crew, ensuring continuity, familiarity, and the same great
service that clients have come to expect.
